New Arrivals: July 2024

I guess the main takeaway from my purchases this month is: promoting guitar gear on YouTube does work …

LPD Pedals Dutch ’24 Overdrive Pedal

I was lying in bed late one night watching YouTube, and a demo for this pedal turned up in my feed. I’d never heard of LPD Pedals before, nor of this pedal. But I liked what I heard, so I decided to order one.

From the demo I saw, the Dutch ’24 seems to be chasing the blues-rock tone. Think the kind of sonic territory regularly occupied by the Timmy, Pantheon, Bluesbreaker, King of Tone et al – without being a clone of any of those circuits (as far as I can tell).

I’m really glad that I got one. I’ve had so much satisfaction out of this pedal since it arrived. Here’s my First Impressions on it, and then a second First Impressions too. (It will also feature in the next two #CoffeeAndKlon posts, which should be out later in August.)

LPD Pedals Fifty5 Tweed Overdrive Pedal

While I was ordering the Dutch ’24, I had a look at LPD’s other pedals. Oh look, they make a tweed-tone pedal. Oh damn, there’s only two left in stock. Oh well, might as well add that to my order too 😁

The LPD Pedals Fifty5 is a pedal that chases the tone of three of Fender’s iconic tweed-era amps: the Champ, the Tweed Deluxe and the Bassman. I love the idea of having a pedal with this level of versatility. If it pulls that off, it’s a pedal that I’ll use a lot.

There’s definitely a familiar tone to be had – one that you’d find in other tweed-tone pedals too. Thanks to the voicing switches, though, this pedal offers so many more options too. Here are my First Impressions.
