PRS announced the S2 McCarty 594 back at Winter NAMM 2020. I ordered one the same month … and then shortly after, the global pandemic began.
I ended up cancelling my order later in 2020, as there was no sign of it actually shipping to the UK. Fast forward to March 2021, and the S2 McCarty 594 that I ordered has finally reached these shores!

What Does It Sound Like?
As we’re in lockdown, and non-essential retail is closed, I can’t go and play the guitar for myself. Fortunately, I don’t need to.
The fine folks at my local guitar store AStrings.co.uk made a video showing off how the PRS S2 McCarty 594 Single Cut sounds. Even better, they’ve had two of them in stock, so you can hear for yourself just how consistent these guitars are.
Impressive Consistency
I’m seriously impressed with how close those two guitars sound.
Compare that to a Gibson Les Paul. In my experience, you’d be hard-pressed to pick two random Les Pauls off the wall and get a consistent sound.
Another reason why, if I was gigging electric guitar, I’d probably gig a PRS over a Gibson myself.
Final Thoughts
I originally wanted to get this guitar for my #PlayAlternative series. Now that it’s here, I’m not in a position to buy it myself.
