Another month, more tweed-tone pedals for me to try. What’s not to like?
Apple Logic Pro 11 DAW
JRAD Monkeyman Tweed Overdrive
I didn’t even know this was a thing until one turned up on the second hand market towards the start of the month. A quick bit of research showed that it’s probably discontinued too. (Sadly, that’s all I’ve been able to learn. Google seems to have given up on being a search engine that returns relevant results any more 🙁)
As far as I can tell, this is another tweed-tone pedal. It’s an overdrive pedal with a built-in spring reverb emulation. A promising combination.
Now that it’s arrived, what do I think of it? Here are my first impressions.
Greer Amps Tomahawk Deluxe Overdrive
Despite being a (relatively) recent release – early 2018 – this is a tweed-tone pedal that seems to have completely flown under the radar. I’ve seen this pedal get mentioned on a few ‘tweed tone pedal’ lists, but that’s about it.
They’re also pretty rare. It doesn’t seem to be available through any of the usual guitar stores here in the UK (not even through the ones that are Greer stockists). So when one popped up on eBay mid-month, I decided to get it for the collection.
This one’s definitely a bit different to the tweed-tone pedals that I’ve had recently.
